It does not show warrant status, PPO records, juvenile records, or probate mental health cases.
Oakland County Court Explorer is the county's free online search tool for circuit court criminal records going back to the early 1990s.
Court Explorer is a fast, no-cost way to check case status, docket entries, and party information for Oakland County criminal cases without visiting the courthouse.
For warrant status, you must call the court directly. The district courts can confirm warrant information by phone. Do not rely on Court Explorer for active warrant checks. The data is unofficial and may lag behind real-time court updates. For the official criminal history under MCL 28.241, use the Michigan State Police ICHAT system at michigan.gov/ichat. ICHAT returns results tied to a person's fingerprint record and is the state's authoritative background check source.
The statewide MiCOURT portal at micourt.courts.michigan.gov also covers Oakland County. MiFILE at mifile.courts.michigan.gov handles electronic filing for Oakland County cases and lets attorneys and parties manage their cases online. Bulk data downloads from Court Explorer are not allowed. For large data requests, you need to submit a FOIA request.
Note: Court Explorer data is not official criminal history; use MSP ICHAT for authoritative background checks under MCL 28.241.

Oakland County handles FOIA requests for law enforcement records through the Sheriff's Office. You can submit requests online, by mail, or in person.
